By definition- ‘alpine’ means ‘at and above treeline’. ‘Alpine climbing’ refers to navigating and climbing over any combination of rock, ice and snow to the summits of these peaks. It may involve all types and styles of climbing from rock to ice to snow to glacier travel…and often all of these in a substantial objective, requiring fitness and strategy.
Skills and experience gained in ice climbing, rock climbing, hiking, skiing and backcountry camping are a foundation for bigger alpine climbs, anywhere.
