Keene Valley Lodge is a large historic B&B right in the center of town with a variety of different rooms, a private cottage, and a great breakfast every morning. (Our guides often enjoy meeting our multi-day guests staying there for breakfast and coffee in the morning.) They're right down the street, just past the Mountaineer. They book up early on weekends and holidays, but often have mid-week vacancies and specials in the slower seasons. You can check their availability on-line, and the earlier you book, the better their availability. Tell them you're climbing/skiing with us.

The Marketplace cafe and gourmet market is practically next door, and has gourmet coffee, soups, baked items, prepared foods, trail lunches, sandwiches, etc. For fruits and veggies, we're literally right behind the Rivermede Farm Maket! If you're closer to Keene, Cedar Run Cafe and Bakery is the place for breakfast, lunch, coffee and snacks.

Down the street past the KV Lodge is the Keene Valley Grocery, a small local grocery with a good selection of essentials and a good deli for subs and sandwiches. Next door is the Ausable Inn, the place to get a burger and a beer without going far (or drive a couple miles to the Baxter Mountain Tavern for the local's favorite pub & restaurant dining.)

The Great Range cafe is just a little further down the street in Keene Valley and offers excellent contemporary cafe breakfast, lunches and dinners (by reservation), and is also run by local climbers.

At the 'far' end of Main St., the Noonmark Diner is a local landmark for dependable diner fare (b,l & d), ice cream and renowned pies. The Keene Valley Hostel is across the street and offers a very nice, clean & affordable bunkroom - very popular with winter ice climbers and year-round peak baggers- with quality washer/dryer/showers too. Call them early because they book up fast!

Trail's End Inn is back down the driveway a bit, and offers a variety of B&B style lodging- rooms, suites & cottages w/ outside access for pets. Across the street is Mountain Meadows, a low-key B&B that sometimes has vacancies.

For minimalists, there's free car camping just up the road at the outlet to Chapel Pond. You can set up camp there, or better yet, just bivy and come down into Keene Valley to eat and use the facilities. (Keene Fitness is a nice local gym just across from the Noonmark Diner.)

Down the road in Keene there is a Stewart's Convenience Store for gas/etc.

Keene-Keene Valley.com is the local community marketing website.

Fourteen miles away is the Olympic Village of Lake Placid, and is the local hub for the full spectrum of resort style lodging, dining and amenities.

Nearby Whiteface Mountain Ski Center, site of the 1980 Winter Olympics alpine events, is just down the road in Wilmington- which also hosts plenty of accomodations, dining and a little supermarket.
