What to do and when to do it? Although we do climb all months of the year in the Adirondacks, there are optimal seasons:
For rock climbing and summer mountaineering it's May-October. Obviously fall is the best!

The ice climbing and winter mountaineering season usually runs from December- April. Backcountry ski conditions are usually best from February- April.
Alpine expeditions and rock camps are always scheduled to take advantage of optimal conditions. That means spring and fall rock camps in the desert and alpine trips in the summer!
