Finally...dry rock and warm days!

Last weekend our patience in waiting out a rainy, cool spring was finally rewarded with a few beautiful, dry days.  Jesse and Peter prepared for their July trip to the North Cascades with a climb up the newly formed (maybe more like enhanced) slides on Whiteface.  Though the day was hot and humid, a slight breeze kept the 3000 ' ascent manageable and Peter ticked off another Adirondack High Peak.  Nice work Peter!

Meanwhile, Craig and I hit up some of the best classic routes around: The Empress (5.5) on Chapel Pond Slab, The Lonely to the El (5.8) on Pitchoff, and Catharsis (5.5) on Pokomoonshine's Slab.  It was great to be able to share leads with Craig and really great to climb Catharsis again after many years...what a great route!

I also took a quick trip to NH to climb with my friend and Inidan Karakoram teammate, Janet Bergman.  We ironed out as many upcoming trip details as possible and climbed a bunch of moderate and harder Cathedral classics like Deidre, Budapest, and Black Crack.  With my name officially on the climbing permit for our trip this summer, I'm really getting excited for some alpine rock in the Karakoram.  Jesse is also headed out for most of July with climbing and guiding lined up in Wyoming's Teton's and Washington's Cascades.  We'll be back for August, September, and October though, so get in touch to book climbing days during late summer and fall...the best time to climb rock in the Adirondacks!

Oh, and don't forget Cloudsplitter Mountain Guides, in part with Chicks Rock and Sterling Rope, will be hosting a women's climbing weekend this August.  This is sure to be a really fun event and also very affordable.  Sign up now or check out the details:
