Early summer rock climbing in the Adirondacks
Memorial Day weekend kicked off our summer season here with seasonably cool and dry weather. This being the real 'North' Country- we actually don't tend to get the full summer rush of tourists and visitors until the July 4th holiday (excluding the thousands of Ironman Triathletes who are here training every weekend for July's event in Lake Placid.) But those who made it here already this summer have been rewarded with some great weather and conditions. That's a very common theme for us here- it's a beautiful day for climbing and we've got the place to ourselves...so what are you waiting for? Come and get it!
If you've driven by Keene Valley lately you may have noticed that our Riverside Basecamp Yurt is GONE (but not forgotten- a non-profit at a sustainable farm project in Maine came and picked it up.) It was a super cool space and we really enjoyed having it- but it often sat unused while we were away guiding, and we've seized the opportunity to move up in the world into the Mountaineer's Riverside Garage- you can't miss our sign right out front on Rt. 73! Riverside Garage is a unique property on Keene Valley's 'main street'- over the years it has hosted a soda fountain, vacation cabin rentals and even a Texaco station (hence the new 'star' logo at the Mountaineer's Garage Sale.) We're very excited about moving into the back of the Garage as a base of operations and really look forward to collaborating with the folks at the Mountaineer to make the most of the unique Riverside space...starting with plans for a Chicks with Picks / Chicks Climbing event here in July. (Stay tuned for details....)
