Adirondack Ice Climbing: A great start to the season

With the cold weather this weekend there's plenty of ice climbing to do already this season. You can now sneak around Chapel Pond on thin ice to the base of Chouinard's and on to the Power Play ampitheater and beyond. That gives us access to great multi-pitch ice and mixed terrain right up the road from Keene Valley. Despite low temps last night (single digits) Chouinard's Gully was great sticky, wet ice today. And with a snowstorm forecast for all day tonight and tomorrow- skiers are going to be happy too!

A shot of Chapel Pond from this afternoon.....you can almost see the ice gettiing thicker...
